NC CX

I have talked to a few folks lately about this CX event I went to in Boone...BEST CROSS EVENT EVER!!!...it was at the top of a mountain at a ski resort...fog/cloud cover most of the day...MUD, 4,000 feet of altitude...oh hey, and cheerleaders, costumes, 2 kegs of Fat Tire Ale, brats, burgers, pulled pork, and kickin' chilli...that is all I have to say about that...take a look.

it's been a long time comin'

I know, I know, all I can say is I've been having my share of fun...with a 1/2 IM in since last post, another small tri, and three cross races...Cross is Boss after all...also gonna have a new "sponsor" so to speak...go check out lululemon.com...have also been mountain biking a bit...head out for some of dat today - could be a mud fest we shall see...

That is a pic of the "orange crush" up at the Michigan Double Cross event...gave a whole new meaning to the word "run up"...8 or so times up that thing, along with the anaerobic mayhem of a cross race and you have some lactic madness...

Going short and sweet today...gotta start out slow...you know, work my way back in...

Peace.

backside update

Okay - not that backside...the backside of the epic Montana ride...Epic is all there is to say...could not have scripted a better trip...the rides were awesome, scenery was gorgeous, weather was fantastic, Hammer Nutrition was soooo accommodating, and all the riders and people were a great fit...(just for some information, this long weekend of riding was sponsored by Hammer, it was their Highline Hammer festivities)...
325 miles in 5 days of riding...and of course the 136 mile loop around Glacier National Park...crossing the Continental divide twice...very fun...the climbs were awesome...the one up Logan pass was 15 miles I believe, and the descents were just as fun...nothing too steep or technical, just steady state climbing and 35ish mile per hour descents for miles and miles...:-)...followed up the next day by the 75 mile loop around the biggest inland lake west of the Mississppi...AND good eats every day...

Got to try out some awesome new Hammer products as well...the Cafe Latte Perpetuem is fantastic...and the Endurance Amino rocks as well...try em out if you have not as of yet...

Okay that was the quick update...peace out.

gettin ready

This is the start of the Tour of the Valley Crit on Friday afternoon in Canfield...that is Brian, Bill and myself on the line getting ready to roll for Lake Effect...I got in a lil 3 man break with about 3ish laps to go, thought it would stick b/c one of the riders in the break had about 5 others in the group, but alas...we got caught and I for one got spit out the back...and that rider with all the team mates was not a happy camper...

Saturday I got in the road race that was again part of the Tour... again, I got in a three man break...this one stuck and I got KOM and 2nd o'all...we were away for about 30 miles of the 33 mile race so we were working, and when it came time to sprint...the legs popped...:-)...the guy that won really deserved he was pretty strong...we all worked together nicely and it was fun day...

Sunday I switched gears and jumped in a local Olympic Tri...another fun day...

Now just waiting for the big Montana adventure...

Over and out...

pop goes the weasel

so i have been gone for some time...but finally got myself kick started a tad...did 2 multi-sport events last weekend...a 3rd overall in one, and a 2nd in another...good weekend, hard efforts, and tired legs...so this weekend i decided to roll down and do the State RR championships after a big week of riding to get ready for Montana...GREAT COURSE, had a bit of everything...wicked technical descents, rollers, and even a nice climb that morphed into a monster by the 6th time up it...but as the title of the post goes...i popped like a weasel...at one point i swear i was going backwards...the field was huge...there were 64 preregistered, so i bet we had 80 in the CAT 3's...the second time up the climb we got a little break going...but alas, got swallowed up...but I stayed on the front as we went through a series of 90 degree turns and the smokin brake pads decent...then we hit the valley road and here I am still on or near the front...(bit of a mistake in retrospect with the size of the field, this was the biggest field I have been in)...so we hit the climb, and this is where I start going backwards...:-)...by the top of the climb I am near the back of the group, and I think some riders had been shredded already...so here is where the maddness begins...with the size of the field and using only 1/2 the road we were stretched out like crazy, so we start hitting all the turns, and as any rider knows that is at the back of a group, this is the worst place to be...so the front of the group is already through the turn and accellerating before us at the back are even into the turn...so all the poppin out of the saddle to stay on caught up to me...and there went my weasel...

good fun though and great training for what lays ahead...and it was nice to roll down there with BP...
